Kids Cancer Care Assembly   June 10th  – Fun Lunch   June 11th  – Volunteer Tea (1:00 – 2:00 p.m.)   June 12th  – School Council Meeting – Gr. 5 to share Teacher Report   June 21st  – National Indigenous People’s Day   June 25th  – Grade 5 Farewell (10:00 – 11:30); Grade 6 Farewell (1:00 – 2:30)  June 26th  – Report cards are visible to parents through PowerSchool   June 27th  – Last day of school for students (11:30 dismissal)  Art  This week students were eager to create some beautiful spring art to share at the volunteer tea.   Hello Families, We had a great week in Grade 2! Calgary Zoo Field Trip *I can discuss and compare the life cycles of various plants and animals.  *I can Identify similarities between offspring and their parents.  Thank you so much to our volunteers who joined us on this field trip. We had a blast! Students were excited to explore dinosaur centers and learn about the prehistoric park. Check out some of our zoo adventures below. Science (Matter) *I can c ompare the properties of materials to determine what material is best for a specific purpose. Thank you to our parent engineers Graham and Adrienne for teaching students about structural design concepts. Students used spaghetti noodles, pood noodles, tape, and dental floss to create their designs/drafts of towers. Hello Families, We have had another exciting week in Grade 2! Happy Mother's Day to all of our fabulous Grade Two moms! Robotics *I can work individually or in groups to create instructions using precise words, pictures, or diagrams. *I can test instructions with three to four steps to verify that a desired outcome is achieved. *I can i dentify ways creativity is used to design instructions. Financial Literacy This week students continue to explore financial literacy. Students were given $100 to spend on camping and needed to decide how much they would spend on needs versus wants. Ask your child how they allotted their money. Was more spent on needs or wants? Art (Teacher's Pet) *I can engage in reflection, composition, and expression when completing a painting. Students participated in an art program that supported the grade two curriculum connected to our Social Studies "A Community in the Past" unit. Hello Families, Swimming I can participate in physical activities that provide enjoyment. I can follow the rules and act safely in new environments. We had a fantastic week swimming. Thank you to our many volunteers who made this week possible. Students truly enjoyed themselves and are very proud of their efforts. We had a fabulous group of swim instructors who built confidence and independence in the water. Students enjoyed making thank-you cards for their instructors.
